If we were sat having a catch up over a glass of wine, I’d probably start by saying… Porto was spectacular 🍷
Honestly, it surprised us in the best way.
First things first… the food. We definitely didn’t go hungry.
We tried francesinha’s (which are basically the most indulgent sandwich you’ll ever eat), grabbed grilled hot dogs from little street spots, ate more pastel de nata than I’m willing to admit, and wandered through the local markets just picking at whatever looked good 😋
Drinks were just as good.
Lots of port wine… and I mean lots. Who knew I’d end up loving port so much?

And then, naturally… more wine 🍷
We managed to see some of the iconic spots too. The beautiful Church of Souls, the incredible tiled walls inside São Bento train station, and of course Livraria Lello, which honestly feels like stepping into a storybook 📚
But what really made the trip was just wandering.
Cable cars over the river, walking across the railway bridge, stopping constantly to take in the most beautiful views along the water 🌉
In three days we somehow managed over 52,000 steps… which probably explains why the food and wine tasted so good 😂
And we even got one glorious day where I could wear a t-shirt… which felt like a small miracle after the winter we’ve had ☀️
Porto really was special in every way. Relaxed, beautiful and full of character.
We started our journey in Trou Aux Biches and honestly, the bar has been set incredibly high already. The soft sandy beaches, pools everywhere you turn, restaurants serving the most divine cuisine, and a reception area unlike anything I’ve ever seen before.
Over the last few days we’ve experienced live cooking shows, unforgettable dining experiences, and a bedroom that genuinely felt like something out of a dream… complete with an outdoor tropical shower 😍

What’s stood out the most so far is the people. The staff here have been beyond hospitable. It doesn’t feel like “staff and guests” at all. There’s such a warm family atmosphere and a real sense of pride across the island that you can feel in every interaction.
We were also lucky enough to enjoy an evening at Beachcomber Victoria after a hotel and room inspection that honestly just made me want to stay even longer 😂 The dinner was incredible and the evening entertainment was something really special.
Today we’re back on the road for another hotel inspection, followed by breakfast (yes… more amazing food 🤭) and then somewhere I’m SO excited to see and can’t wait to share with you all soon.
After a week travelling on a luxury cruise ship, eating incredible food, being waited on and visiting some gorgeous Irish towns and cities… I appear to have completely lost all ability to function as a normal human being.
What do you mean I now have to fend for myself?!

Why has nobody turned down my bed?
And most importantly… where is the person bringing me a glass of wine or champagne?! 🍷
I’m not home yet and already feel wildly underqualified for normal life.

Sad to see the back of Trou Aux Biches, but with so much planned we had to stick to schedule 🌴✨
Our morning started with breakfast at Beachcomber Canonnier and wow… what a setup. We were treated to breakfast in one of the speciality restaurants and honestly spoiled with choice.
After food we spent time with the staff exploring the different room types, the kids club and the spa facilities. Every corner of the resort had something special.
But what came next… none of us could have guessed 👀
A full Race Across The World style challenge!
We had to make our way from Canonnier to Mauricia Resort, completing activities, collecting items and taking photos along the way.
Honestly, it turned out to be one of the best ways to truly experience Mauritius. Yes, the hotel staff are amazing, but the locals are equally as welcoming and kind. We hitchhiked and met the most wonderful lady who took us to two different spots on our journey ❤️
After a few hours wandering, laughing and trying not to get lost, we finally made it to the hotel where another incredible lunch was waiting for us.
Then came my third resort visit of the day… Beachcomber Royal Palm. And wow. Otherworldly. Think ultra luxury from start to finish. There’s a reason it’s recognised by the Forbes Travel Guide. It absolutely deserves its own separate video.
Finally it was time to head to our evening stay at Paradis and somehow the day got even crazier… they gave us the three-bedroom villa sitting right on its own private stretch of beach with Le Morne towering behind us 🌅

Sarita has been amazing! I inquired in Feb for a break during the Eater holidays for my husband and I. Sarita was fantastic to talk to, she heard our requirements and our flexibility for places. I can't recommend Sarita enough! She's thorough and listens to what you want, whilst also throwing in a couple of options that are ever so slightly different but somehow always end up being right? Sarita is 10000% friendly, helpful throughout and is happy to answer 2837372 questions, as well as some tricky asks around dates. We used Sarita for a trip to Mexico and everything went without a hitch, and the only issue was something at the hotel which no-one could have prevented.
